FAQ

What photography services offers Unveiled Photography?

Unveiled Photography offers portrait photography, (including business headshots and portraiture), family photography sessions and children photo sessions. Newborn Photography sessions and Maternity sessions are two favorite ones.

Unveiled Photography also offers engagement sessions. Would you like more info on any of these sessions, please contact us at info@unveiledphotography.com. We also enjoy wedding photography. Please follow the links to see sample of our photography:

  • Wedding photography
  • Pregnancy, baby & newborn photography
  • Family, Engagement & Portrait photography
  • Are the photos taken in a studio, in our house or outdoors?

That depends. We think that newborn sessions and maternity sessions should be done in the comfortness of your own home. At home you have enough comfort and feel more relax than having to carry everything you need to another place in the city. Portrait sessions of families and couples work best in the outdoors. For personal portraits, headshots and some photo shoots with your partner, both outdoors or indoors are good options with their own advantages and disadvantages.

If you have a clear idea of what you want, please contact us. We would be happy to let you know what the possibilities are and what are the best options for you.

Please follow the link for samples of our studio sessions, maternity photography, newborn photography, children and family photography and engagement sessions (or photoshoot with partner).

    Newborn Sessions

What is the best time to do them?

I prefer to have this session done in the first 10 days after the baby is born. This is a period in which we can really achieve some beautiful portraits of your newborn. Do not hesitate in contacting us if you have any question or inquietude regarding having a session in this period.
I understand that this might be an stressful time since your life changes quite a bit with the arrival of a new family member and that is why we consider that having the newborn session at your own home is beter than in other locations.

It is possible, however, to have this sessions past the first 10 days though.

How do I prepare for a newborn session?

There are some things that you can do to prepare you, your baby and your home for a photography session. It is very important that your baby is wel fed right before the beginning of the session. If possible, please feed your baby around half an hour before the start of our photo session. Warming up the house or location where the session is going to take place is a key factor for the outcome of the session. If we are sweating then your newborn baby is happy. Please contact me to fully discuss these conditions.

Please remember that babies are unpredictables, so it is important that we remain calmed during the session.

It is also good if you dress your baby with a loose and easy to remove clothes and diapers. Lastly, it is important to have a quite and relaxing environment.

What we have suggested here are just small steps we can take to ensure that the session is a success.

Please check the section on Portraits for more details. For more information go to my blog ("Preparing for a newborn session") or contact us directly.

    Maternity Sessions

What is the best time to do them?

Any time after your belly is noticeable is a good time for a session. We, however, prefer to have the session between weeks 28 to 32 weeks of your pregnancy. We found that this is the ideal period for these type of sessions.

Where would the session take place?

That depends. Some couples prefer to have this session done outdoors and some prefer to do this session in the comfort of their own home and some prefer to have a bit of both. Often, you already have an idea of exactly what message you want to portrait. Some times you want to show the intimacy and delicacy of being pregnant and some times you prefer to have a session that showscase your exitement and celebration of life.

Please contact us and we'll be glad to help with the decision.

Can I include my partner and other children?

Definitely! This is a very special moment not only to you but to the future dad and siblings.

    What should I wear?

Pregnancy photography is all about capturing the miracle of the life growing inside of you. There are different ways to approach the session and it will depend on what makes you feel comfortable.
In a pregnancy photo session, we can photograph your body fully clothed, draped or nude. It is up to you.
When wearing clothes it is good if you use:

  • fabric that shows the skin through
  • tank tops that will show your shoulders
  • a shirt (could be from your partner)
  • dark or medium dark clothing
  • clothing with nice tecture, like hand knitted or corduroy
  • other clothing that identifies you

  • Working in the comfort of your own home provides a good opportunity to use more than one outfit. Make sure you feel comfortable wearing them. In preparation for the session, it is good not to wear any tight piece of clothing that could leave marks on your body.

If in doubt, please contact us for personalised advice.

    Session - General Questions

    Photo session: What to wear

This is a very personal aspect of your photos. What you wear on your portrait session will depend strongly on what type of session you are planning. Your clothing selection will be different if you have, for example, an outdoor photo shoot with your partner, if you have a themed session or a fashion shoot.

We advise, for general photography sessions, to wear neutral colors clothing without busy patterns, stripes or logos as it can detract from the main subject. This is not, however, a firm rule, it is simply a safe advice.

For a selection of the best clothing for your portrait session, please contact us and we will give you a personalized advice.
In the particular case of newborn or maternity sessions, it is best to stay on plain white or black clothing.

    Photo session: Makeup

Makeup, as with clothing selection, also depends on what type of session you'll have. But unless you are having a fashion shoot or a themed session, we advise to use very light make-up. It is easier to compensate for lack of make-up in post-production than to recover details and color tones from overly done makeups. A soft and neutral base, with a light application of soft and natural colors to enhance your featuers is ideal. We will be happy to provide more details if interested.

For visual examples, please refer to photos in the newborn and maternity photos gallery page or in the engagent and portrait photos gallery.

    When are my photos ready?

Your photos should be ready in about a week after the photo session takes place. This is subject to the season and work load. From May and until September, it could take up to two weeks because we are also busy with weddings at the time.
